What has Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, been up to since TLC canceled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo in 2014? As it turns out, she’s grown up quite a bit. Here’s a quick rundown of her life outside the spotlight. First, some background information… Scandal…and canceled In October 2014, TLC canceled Here Comes Honey Boo Boo after allegations that Alana’s mother, June “Mama June” Shannon, was dating a convicted child molester…who had allegedly molested June’s daughter, Anna.
At the time, TMZ reported that TLC had filmed a full season of episodes, but didn’t air them for the sake of the children’s welfare. So what’s been going on for the family since the scandal’s end? The Doctors stage an intervention During Mama June and Alana’s February 2015 appearance on The Doctors, the show’s hosts expressed concerns about Alana’s health. Because she is four foot six inches tall, right. Yes. 125 pounds. Yes. 9 years old. By her body mass index, she is obese. Mama June claimed Alana’s weight was due to steroids she was taking for other pre-existing health conditions.
Dr. Travis Stork shot those claims down: You’re trying to make a lot of excuses, and I get it, trust me. We got Dr. Schultz here. We’re going to talk to him in just a moment. Cause there’s no question that we’ve got to address Alana’s asthma. Asthma is inflammation of the airwaves. Yes. What’s ironic is we’re learning more and more about how the foods we eat, the life we live, how it all can increase inflammation in our bodies. And believe it or not, part of her treatment is going to be trying to minimize these steroids. But what’s ironic, and something I’ve learned in the emergency department, Is the common culprit in a lot of these things, believe it or not, is what’s your eating. And when I looked in your fridge, June, I’m sorry, but I didn’t see anything in that fridge that’s going to either improve Alana’s weight or decrease inflammation in her body.
The Doctors gave Alana healthy prepared meals, a nutritionist, and cooking supplies to help her lose 12 to 25 pounds. But some months later, the show alleged that the family had not been following through with their pledge, noting that the kitchen tools they’d sent were still in their boxes. Doctor Stork let Mama June have it in a follow-up appearance on the show in May 2015: We hope that you start to institute these changes for your daughter’s health. Dr. Ashton talked about we want to believe you. I gotta be frank with you, I don’t believe you. Because, but that doesn’t mean I’m not rooting for you. Mama June fights back After their final appearance on The Doctors, Mama June praised Alana’s eight-pound weight loss over the span of a month. According to June’s Instagram post, Alana’s weight loss was credited to “eating smaller portions and walking,” and the “encouraging support” from the family’s personal trainer, Natasha Fett. Mama June also took aim at The Doctors, alleging that the show was edited to make them look bad and that it had wanted her family to fail. Alana on the red carpet A few months later, Alana made a rare red carpet appearance in her home state of Georgia. According to Extra, Alana was attending the opening of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star Benzino’s new restaurant, Benzino’s Crab Shack. Photos of Alana’s dolled-up hairdo were posted the day before on Instagram.
“Hair on fleek,” the caption read. Rap career? In late 2015, Alana made an attempt at a career in music when she released her very first rap single, “Movin’ Up,” featuring Adam Barta and Pumpkin: We got Pumpkin goin’ round. From Georgia to LA, she’s pavin’ the way. All the kids in the streets, it’s the latest dance craze. It’s easy to do, my man, Dad, can do it too Shake your hips and move your feet. No word yet on when we can buy the album… Alana supports Mama June’s return to TV In November 2015, Mama June announced her return to reality television on WeTV’s Marriage Boot Camp, alongside her ex, Sugar Bear, with whom she’d reconciled after their 2014 split. Alana came out in support of her family for the series’ Los Angeles premiere, making headlines for her grown-up fashion.
The 10-year-old arrived to the premiere in a black-and-white-striped dress, accompanied by a pearl necklace, fake eyelashes, and her signature personality. What’s next? The Thompsons have hinted that they’re not going anywhere. Mama June wrote on Instagram in early 2016 that the family has “a few projects coming up.” Her upcoming appearance on the plastic-surgery reality show Botched was confirmed shortly afterwards.
Then the family was photographed shopping in Beverly Hills, accompanied by a film crew. Break out the Go-Go Juice…looks like Honey Boo Boo is coming back to TV…
